HOME*WINES & VINEYARDS*2008 Bouchaine Chardonnay Lovers' Delight

2008 Bouchaine Chardonnay Lovers' Delight

Chardonnay lends itself to being styled or seasoned more than any other varietal.  The underlying quality of the vineyard source and the characteristics of the terroir are vastly important.

A varietal with such intriguing “stylability” gave winemaker Michael Richmond the opportunity to make three Chardonnays, each with their individual personality and character.

Uncork all three at once for your next gathering of friends for the ultimate Chardonnay experience, or savor each bottle individually with its own perfect food pairing that highlights the unique composition of each of these three Chardonnay.

2008 Bouchaine Chêne d’Argent, Estate, Napa Valley – Carneros
Bacchus Collection

The name means “silvery oak” and alludes to the un-oaked, stainless steel fermented style of this Chardonnay.  It demonstrates what pure and unadulterated Chardonnay tastes like, when reared in silvery stainless steel vessels and without the distraction of oak.  When deftly styled to sparkle with complexity and liveliness rather than cloaked in robes of fat butterscotch, an intriguing and compelling taste experience awaits.

2008 Bouchaine Estate Chardonnay, Napa Valley – Carneros

This wine comes from vines dating to Bouchaine’s original plantings in 1981.  It’s a true expression of Chardonnay – bright, citrusy flavors graced with only the merest hint of oak.  Its fruit flavors, bright acidity, notable texture (a hallmark characteristic of Carneros Chardonnay), and relentless finish harmonize in an elegant, stylish wine.  Straw gold in color, it dances in the glass like sunlight.

2008 Bouchaine Bouche de Beurre, Estate, Napa Valley – Carneros
Bacchus Collection

Winemaker Michael Richmond says, "I feel that Chardonnay from Carneros receives the oak more gracefully versus fruit from warmer climates, and that's why this wine, even with the 100% new oak treatment and full malolactic fermentation, is exceptionally well-integrated between texture and flavor."  It shows a creamy smooth texture, balanced acidity, and hints of tropical and buttery flavors. Contrary to established notions of butter-and-cream Chardonnays being heavy and overwhelming, our Bouche de Beurre balances elegance and opulence.
