Bouchaine Vineyards Pet Policy

The presence of dogs at Bouchaine Vineyards has been a unique and, to some, a treasured part of the Bouchaine experience. Continuing to allow dogs at the Winery should be considered a privilege and, as such, requires complete responsibility on the part of the pet owners. Dog owners are expected to recognize that not all visitors like dogs and, in some cases, some people with allergies cannot tolerate being in close proximity to animals.

Due to a recent mishap between a guest’s dog and one of our employees, we find we must place some restrictions on guests’ dogs at the Winery.

For safety purposes and to be respectful of all guests (and employees) visiting Bouchaine, while still attempting to allow visitors the opportunity to bring their dogs to Bouchaine, the following policy will apply:

  • A reservation is required prior to bringing a dog to Bouchaine.
  • Dogs must be properly licensed and vaccinated.
  • Dogs must be on leashes, and must stay with their owner or designated watcher at all times.
  • Any behavior which interferes with another guest’s ability to enjoy their visit will be cause for Bouchaine to request the remove of the dog (remember:  interference is in the eye of the beholder). Aggressive behavior, such as growling, barking, chasing, or biting, is unacceptable and the dog will have to be removed.
  • Pets with evidence of fleas will be asked to be removed.
  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dog at all times. If a dog has an indoor “accident,” they will be asked to be removed.  Owners are financially responsible for any damage or cleaning to Bouchaine facilities, this includes damage from accidents, excessive pet hair, and odor removal. Owners must maintain adequate liability insurance against dog mishaps. Bouchaine assumes no responsibility for any pet.

Following these guidelines should allow dog owners to enjoy the company of their pets while enjoying their visit at Bouchaine, and allow all guests (and employees) to feel safe and secure.

Bouchaine reserves the right to amend these guidelines at its discretion.
