Bouchaine Recommended in United Airlines' Hemispheres Magazine
10/15/2006

The latest issue of United Airlines' Hemispheres Magazine introduces travelers to Napa Valley by bike. Writer Larry Tritten writes that those with interest in historical architecture will especially enjoy a stop at Bouchaine. He writes that the tasting room's terrace "provides a scenic view of vine-covered hills" and that wine specialties include a Chardonny with "complex flavors" resulting from French-oak barrels and a Pinot Noir "aged to perfection."

For more information about biking to Bouchaine and in the Napa/Sonoma wine country, contact our bike tour partners at Napa Valley Bike Tours (www.napavalleybiketours.com), Backroads (www.backroads.com), and Getaway Adventures (www.getawayadventures.com). Each one offers its own unique blend of touring the wine country by bike, but all three offer tours that stop at Bouchaine.

The high end, high gloss magazine from the Delaware/Brandywine Valley, The Hunt Magazine, features a story on Bouchaine Vineyards and owners Gerret and Tatiana Copeland. Wilfred Wong talks Pinot Noir with Bouchaine Winemaker Michael Richmond
09/30/2006

In his quest to uncover the well-documented mysteries of Pinot Noir, wine writer Wilfred Wong brought Bouchaine winemaker Michael Richmond to mind as the one person who can speak with decades of experience, selecting Richmond for his insights and experiences. Together they tasted Pinots from Burgundy, Carneros, and other regions renowned for Pinot Noir. Their discussions appear in his feature titled, “Pinot Noir: the “Heartbreak Grape” (September/October issue of Vineyard & Winery Management). Wong called his conversation with Michael Richmond “an almost timeless marathon of discussing pinot noir and its metaphysical constructs,” and credits Richmond and Joseph Swan Vineyards winemaker Rod Berglund for their part in carrying “the torch 24/7, both are setting the scene to reveal the realities of pinot noir.”

Excerpted from Wilfred Wong’s article:

The holistic mind of Michael Richmond theorizes, “You can’t take the human element out of the terroir.” As I was two-fisting the bold 2003 Joseph Swan Trenton Estate and the enticing 2004 Bouchaine Bacchus Collection pinot noirs, I took a double take and asked him, “What are you talking about?” I had never heard the notion that people could affect the terroir of the vineyard. Richmond further added that traditions (such as in Burgundy) handed down from generations, father to son and to grandson, has everything to do with how a wine turns out.
