HOME March 2008 Bouchaine Bacchus Club Wine Releases
We are delighted to announce our upcoming release of Bouchaine Bacchus Club wines for March 2008: Bouchaine 2006 Gee Vineyard Pinot, Napa Valley-Carneros, and Bouchaine 2006 Pinot Gris, Carneros. The 2006 Pinot Gris is crisp, fruit-forward with nectarine and grapefruit flavors, and will pair amazingly well with a range of dishes, from cool-weather oysters to seared scallops. The 2006 Gee Vineyard, as most of our Bacchus Club members know, comes from a dry-farmed, organic vineyard across Buchli Station Road from our winery. It is reminiscent of classic Pinot Noir, with tea and berries, leather and earth, and just the perfect touch of spice. Dry farming means that the vines were not watered, as the lack of irrigation pushes the vines to develop smaller berries (grapes), concentrating the flavors and providing us with this singular bottling. We limit the Gee Vineyard wine to about 200 cases a year, and only when we can make a stunning wine, do we actually make this wine. Bouchaine's 2007 Bacchus Club Harvest Pickup Party
Over 150 members of Bouchaine’s Bacchus Club were on hand to eat, drink, and be merry on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at our Club Pickup Party. Our September wine club wine selections--Bouchaine’s Chene d’Argent and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir--were the two featured wines for the afternoon, pairing perfectly with a most delectable dish: Valencia Paella with chicken, sausage, and seafood (another version was available without seafood for those with dietary restrictions). Guests had the opportunity to try that age-old tradition of harvesting and stomping grapes. Two wooden barrel bins were set out and Club Members were invited to harvest clusters of grapes and add them to the bins. Shoes came off next as Club Members took turns stomping and crushing grapes using their bare feet. The most common reaction: squeals of delight upon stepping into a bin of squishy grapes. Others thought it was “pokey,” “massaging,” slimey,” or “soothing.” With space limitations, we can only post a few of the afternoon’s photos here, but please click on the link below to check out all the photos from the day. They are part of a collection of photos chronicling this year’s harvest. http://www.flickr.com/gp/7713293@N08/3x01f4 (Photos specific to the harvest pickup party begin on page 2 of this photo set) Everyone looks beautiful and happy, but if you prefer to have your photo removed, please contact Wendy Yeh at Bouchaine 707.252.9065. Many thanks to all the attendees for their boundless enthusiasm, energy, and merrymaking that turned this event into a roaring success!
